This year I got the chance to once again attend Blogapalooza. This year was bigger, with a lot of participating brands, and a mind boggling 700 participating bloggers and social media experts. Blogapalooza is a Business-to-Blogger event that aims to provide brands with direct access to bloggers and their readers. It happened last October 11 at the SMX Convention Center at SM Aura.

I recently got some new things and am in the process of trying them out.

Makeup Stuff

testingstuff0814-1

Pixy Ultimate Makeup Cake in Peach Beige – I got this from the Pixy Launch event, and is the first time in a long time I’ve gone back to pressed powder foundation. I’ve recently gone back to BB cream when it became rainy, and I used loose powder foundation (Ellana) during the summer months. I’m slowly readjusting myself back to powder foundation with this product.

Pixy Blush On in Brown Tea – Another one from the Pixy Launch, this one is really quite brown and Kira suggested it can be used as contour. What a great way to start learning how to contour! Hopefully I can show you some swatches and trial fotd’s with this as contouring powder.

Happy Skin SS Creme in Natural Beige – I’ve been meaning to try Happy Skin for the longest time. Thanks for my fairy godmother (my awesome awesome MIL) I got to finally dip my toes in the brand. This SS Creme (Silicone Free Foundation) is on top of my wishlist, primarily because I want to see how it fares against my pores. The fact that it’s silicone free is pretty nice because it causes less chances of my sensitive skin flaring up. I got the darker of the two available shades.

Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie in The Morning After – Another one from my benefactor. And yeah, I finally caved in and admitted that maybe I should look into nude shades for my lipsticks. This one has been on the rave lists of many of the bloggers that I read, and I figured I should give it a shot. So far I’m liking how it feels on my lips! I’ll definitely put up a review of this soon.

K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow Mascara in Natural Brown – In my last testing list, I tried out the Maybelline Fashion Brow Mascara. While I like it enough, I have some issues with it’s really big brush head. I wanted a brow mascara that used much tinier brushes, and K-Palette recently released just that. I liked what I saw from the press releases through local blogs, so I availed myself of this as well. I’m a bit afraid this might be too light for my brows though, as my hair is undyed. This is the final item I got from my wonderful MIL’s birthday gift. 😀

Nippon Makeup Remover Lotion – I’m about to run out of my current Bifesta bottle, and I thought that was the perfect time to try out some stuff I have in my stash. This one is part of my gift pack from The Beauty Junkee, This is different from the usual makeup removers I’m used to, because this is actually some sort of lotion (as it says on the product name!). I found that I just need to massage this all over my made up face, wipe it off with some cotton or tissue, and the makeup comes off with it! It doesn’t quite manage to remove stubborn waterproof mascara, but it can remove the rest pretty well.

Inglot Sleeks Platinum Lip Paint – Another one from the TBJ gift pack, I was attracted to this because of the “lip paint” part. I’ve been curious about the lip paints like Limecrime, OCC Lip Tars, and the like, and I’m hoping this is going to be somewhat like that. It has quite a strange sheen to it (the platinum part, I think), but I like the shade so far.

Celeteque Advanced Anti-Aging Cleansing Oil – This is one of the two products recently released and presented during the Celeteque Anniversary Event. It’s a reformulation of the old Cleansing Oil, which I’ve been a faithful user of, since I find that it removes waterproof mascara quite well. [On aside: I just discovered I haven’t reviewed the cleansing oil yet! But the point is moot now that it’s phased out, haha!] This reformulation enables it to be both the old makeup remover, but at the same time it also performs as an emusifying oil cleanser! I’m quite intrigued, and at Php249 per bottle it’s hard to argue!

Non Makeup Stuff

testingstuff0814-2

Bio-Oil – This of course came from the Beauties and Babies Glamourbox, and is the very first thing I tried. I’m using this to currently treat my numerous arm scars, and with only three weeks of (non-continuous) use there has been some promising improvement! I hope I don’t forget to document it, so I can show it to you! I’m loving this oil so far, and dread the time I run out of it.

Vitress Instant Relax Cuticle Coat – I have to admit that I’ve always turned my nose up at Vitress, primarily because I didn’t have good experience with hair oils. I’ve always felt that my hair is greasy and weighed down whenever I use hair oils, so I stopped considering it. When I received this at the Vitress event, I thought I’d give it another shot. I’m surprised to find out that it broke all my expectations about hair oil! I think I’m a convert! 😀

Snoe Body Ritual Recipes Honey Bath Syrup in Nectarine Ginger Tea – Another one from the TBJ gift pack. I didn’t really have high hopes for this, because it’s an exfoliant. I’ve had mostly bad experiences with exfoliating washes, because of my sensitive skin. However, I couldn’t resist the scent of this! So yummy smelling it makes me want to take a bath many times!

The Body Shop Chocomania Body Lotion – Lastly, again from the TBJ gift pack, my very first The Body Shop lotion! I’m a huge fan of chocolate, and I couldn’t really resist trying this out, even if I still have a lot of opened lotion bottles to finish. It smells so much like chocolate, I’m afraid I’m going to wake up one day covered in ants! Lovely, but could be a little overwhelming to some.

Have you tried any of these? What is your feedback?

I am joining this beauty dare, where the challenge is to wear a different lipstick for each of the five working days for four weeks. No repeating! It’s going to be a lot of challenge for me because I don’t really have a huge collection of lipsticks. I’m going to try featuring those that I don’t wear very often. Check out Elaine’s challenge too see how the challenge actually goes.

Let’s start with Week 1!

20daylippt1_6

Day 1: Clinique Long Last Lipstick in All Heart

20daylippt1_1

I wanted to start with my current favorite, and one of my most recent acquisitions: Clinique Long Last Lipstick in All Heart. I bought this from Shayne’s blog sale and I definitely do not regret buying it! It’s a nice glossy shade of berry red, with tiny microshimmers that aren’t noticeable from afar. It’s not that robust though, and will fade with eating or drinking.

Day 2: Snoe Rouge Deluxe in Mauve Movement

20daylippt1_2

This is one of the first lipsticks I bought when I was just starting with beauty blogging. This is a loud mauvey pink shade that appears to be understated on me actually. I don’t normally wear this because it dries me up a little even with a balm underneath.

Day 3: Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Pink Peach

20daylippt1_3

Another Clinique lipstick here, and this one is part of the All-in-One Colour Palette that I received last year. This particular shade is an MLBB for me. It also has a subtle sheen on the finish, but not as obvious as the All Heart. The only disadvantage to this is that I need a brush to apply it, but I love how smooth and even my lips look so it’s worth it!

Day 4: Winmax Pearl Rouge #5

20daylippt1_4

This particular lipstick is part of a huge Daiso Japan haul I did earlier this year. This is a nice understated pink shade similar to Snoe’s Mauve Movement, but costs much cheaper. The bullet is of course appropriately cheaper-looking as well. The application is quite easy, but the formula is a little drying too. I find that I need to apply a balm underneath to avoid patches.

Day 5: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Lollipop

20daylippt1_5

This is, iirc, from one of the first few BDJ boxes I got. It’s pretty soft (buttery, even!) and glides on pretty smoothly. I don’t really understand why I don’t use this more often, to be honest. It’s quite pink, which doesn’t really show in this picture because I have a shitty camera and shitty lighting.

I’ve been enjoying this so far, and I’m happy to have achieved the full five days for last week! Hopefully I’ll get to use up some of the other ones I have in my stash. Maybe you can join me too!

Today I was feeling the pink, so I decided to unearth my pink eyeshadows and lipstick to feature this color.

feelingpink1

Here I used the bottom middle of my L.A. Colors eyeshadow palette as the lid wash, and the #2 shade from my Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Purple Pop for the outer corner and crease.

feelingpink4

For contrast I used the #4 from Purple Pop as eyeliner. I used Benefit They’re Real Mascara for my lashes.

feelingpink2

To top it all off I used Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Lollipop for my lips.

Last month I swatched the three mineral eyeshadows  I received from Kira, and Tellie challenged me to come up with an eye makeup look that featured all three. After a whole month of diddling about, I finally found the opportunity to play around with the eyeshadows. Before I present the results, here again are the three shades and the swatches.

holidayhaul06 silknaturalsswatch1

What I did was to use Charmed as lidwash on the inner 2/3 of the eye, and put Thistle on the outer 1/3 and blended it into the crease. Sonic was used as a highlight in the tearduct and browbone. I used the foiling technique (aka damp brush). The brushes I used were all from Artist Studio. Here’s how it turned out.

greenpurple1

And here’s a close up.

greenpurple2

It’s a little weird how it ended up. The green eyeshadow is now almost completely invisible and turns up only as hints on the crease (the green you see near the upper lashline is a green eyeliner). It did spread out its glitter all over the lid though. The purple also isn’t as deep as the swatch suggested. I used my trusty Essence eyeshadow base underneath all this. Here’s another shot, although rather blurred.

Six months after the first ever Glamourbox Special Edition, Glamourbox releases its second one, this time from Snoe! Ever since GB announced a partnership with Snoe (they carry a huge amount of Snoe products in the Boutique) I have foreseen, or at least hoped pretty hard, that they will release a special edition from Snoe. They didn’t disappoint! Glamourbox opens 2014 with a bang with this awesome Special Edition Snoe Glamourbox!

Warning: Photo-intensive post ahead! [You can click on each photo for a bigger size.]

snoegb01

Unfortunately, unlike the Avon Glamourbox, the Snoe box just came in the standard Glamourbox print. It doesn’t really detract from the experience, but I am a huge fan of limited editions and would have wanted a Snoe-printed box to go with the Avon one. 😛

snoegb02

Here is a sneak peek which I uploaded to twitter a few hours ago. Check out that big bottle teasing us with surprise goodness!

snoegb19

This is the welcome card for this month. I like how that white burst really pops out and is a great representation of the new year. I will show you the back of it at the end of the post.

snoegb04

Here are the contents of the box when you remove the welcome card. Check out those awesome products! Let me show them to you one by one, in the order of preference.

Let me first confess that I was hoping for a makeup-leaning box, but instead we get a more bath and body concentrated experience. I don’t really mind, honestly, since I do get to try Snoe products that I wouldn’t have thought of trying.

snoegb18

In any case there is still one makeup product in the box: the Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire. I’ve seen a lot of rave reviews of this product, notably from Liz of Project Vanity, and I’ve been wanting to try this ever since. I received this really cute sample tub, and I think the shade is the lightest, Vanilla Creme. This is a mineral powder that contains acai berry, and claims to protect the skin from free radicals, tightens and smoothens fine lines yet totally blends naturally into the skin. Let us also not overlook the fact that this has SPF. I have no idea how much product this sample has, but the full size of 35g costs Php799. It didn’t come with a brush or sponge applicator.

snoegb06 snoegb07 snoegb08

The next one in my favorites list is the biggest item in the box: Snoe Hair Heroes Agent Zero Cleansing Serum. It’s an all-around cleanser made specifically for sensitive skin (yay!), and contains no fragrance, sulfates, and silicones. It can be used for both hair and body, and claims to be gentle enough even for babies. I’m so excited to try this out! Check out the label design, I like the tux detail that supports the “Agent Zero” theme. Props also for having the manufacture and expiry dates clearly printed on the back. This is the full sized bottle (250ml) and costs Php599. This product alone pays back the cost of the subscription (Php595).

snoegb09

I was very intrigued by this next product: Snoe Body Ritual Recipes Whipped Body Frosting Lotion. I had originally thought, hey that’s a really cute pink bottle. A closer look shows that the bottle is actually transparent, and it is the product that is actually pink! It’s a lotion filled with goodness in the form of Vitamin E, papaya extracts, and SPF15, and smells really great too! I love lotions and this is a welcome addition to my arsenal. This looks to be full sized, 150g, which costs Php249. It’s a little more expensive per gram compared to the Human Heart Nature body butters.

snoegb16 snoegb17

Next we have a new form of the Beso Balm: the Bedside Besobalm Deep Moisturizing Lip Treatment in Pink Pout Pucker. It’s made to be used while sleeping, how cool is that! It’s also perfectly timed, as the cold weather is wrecking havok on lips. The welcome card claims that it “creates luscious pink lips”, so I’m thinking this has some amount of lip color/stain as well. This full size 4g tube costs Php249.

snoegb12 snoegb13 snoegb14 snoegb15

We now come to a pair of soaps that Snoe was originally known for. These are both whitening soaps called Snow White Beauty Bar, and the variants I got were Organic Papaya and Lightening Licorice. The Organic Papaya one is an exfoliator and aims to treat blemishes and dark spots, while the Lightening Licorice is supposed to brighten and nourish skin for a younger complexion. While I am not really interested in whitening, I like interesting soaps like these so I am happy to receive them too. Each of these soaps is 150g and costs Php139. Again check out the manufacture and expiry dates printed on the back.

snoegb10 snoegb11

Lastly we have the Snoe Fizzy Clean Foaming Hand Sanitizer. I am honestly not a big fan of fancy hand sanitizers as I am perfectly content with my bag mainstay (Bench Alcogel). Snoe’s hand sanitizer is supposed to be a quirky one because it foams up. This one is 50ml and costs Php179, which is really quite steep for a hand sanitizer. The bottle is also huge and obviously contains liquid, which makes it not quite portable.

snoegb05

My impressions of the Snoe Glamourbox Special Edition: This is a much awaited box for me, and it mostly delivered! I like the fact that I get to try products I wouldn’t normally consider buying, and I still get to try a makeup item as well. Snoe is also (as far as I know) cruelty-free so I’m really quite happy about that.

snoegb20

Value review: The total value of this box, excluding the poudre sample and the hand sanitizer, is Php1375. This is already more than twice the box cost of Php595! I really don’t mind the fact that a lot of that is just one product (agent zero) because I still get to try all these interesting items. Admittedly, this is also way less than the average box value of Glamourbox (Php1800) but keep in mind that I didn’t include the value of the poudre sample and the hand sanitizer. Again I am so so pleased with the Special Edition, and I’m really looking forward to the next one!

You can read more about the Snoe company at their website, and you can browse prices at their online store. Snoe products are available in various locations and can also be found at the Glamourbox Boutique.

I’m starting a new category: Favorites! I was inspired by my fellow bloggers and I decided to feature my own monthly favorites. I will try to limit this to 5-6 items  (about one in each category) to avoid having excessively long posts. Without further ado, here are my June Favorites!

julyfav1

That is definitely way more than 5-6 items!

1. [Eyes] Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base

essenceilstage1

I really love this eyeshadow base, as you can see from my review. I’ve taken to using this everyday and it really helps keep my eye makeup stay put. It’s also quite inexpensive.

2. [Face] Barenaturals Skin Perfecting Primer and Celeteque BB Cream

junegb05celbb4

I’m going to cheat and put two in this category. The first is the primer I received in my June Glamourbox. It’s a great primer and performs pretty well, even with that horrendous packaging. It’s a mainstay for my everyday makeup. The second is my current favorite BB cream. It performs so well for me and it’s a multitasker as well.

3. [Lips] Snoe Mauve Movement

Aprilhaul16

I always keep coming back to this whenever I don’t know what to put on my lips. The longetivity and robustness of this trumps everything else.

4. [Skin Care] Celeteque Brightening Tri-Benefit Power Cream and Celeteque Restorative Friming Overnight Cream

julyfav2 julyfav3

Again another double-item category. These are my current day cream and night cream respectively. I am so far enjoying them, but I am waiting for about a month of use before I write a formal review.

5. [Nails] Dazzle Dry Me d’Forest Queen and BK Nail System Dotting Tool

medforestqueen5 mayjunehaul13

Yep I cheated again. I have two items in my nails slot. My newest DD lacquer deserves this spot of course, since green is my favorite and this is such a beauty. My dotting tool also made it, since it helped me do my best nail art so far.

6. [Tools] Artist Studio Brushes

julyfav4

I have a number of Artist Studio brushes, and by far I am liking them all! The ones I can’t live without are the powder brush, the angled flat top brush, the eyeliner brush, and the eyeshadow brush. I plan on writing a review of these as soon as I complete the collection (I’m just missing 3 or 4).

There you have it for June! Do you like reading about favorites? Should I continue doing this?

I am a big fan of locally-made products, and one of my newest favorites is Snoe. I have a very long list of wants from Snoe and it’s getting bigger as they keep releasing new and interesting products. In my haul last month, I bought two Snoe products and one of them is this Awesome Poresome Beauty Bar.

According to their online store, “Awesome Poresome Beauty Bar dissolves excess oil, dirt and impurities. It will lift away dead skin cells, leaving skin clean, nourished, and fresh. Use it daily to help eliminate blemishes, prevent new breakouts, and maximize penetration of powerful pore minimizing ingredients of other Awesome Poresome products.” As you well know, we cannot really make our pores disappear. We can but reduce them slightly with products such as this, or conceal them with makeup. This review will let you know how this product fared with me.

Aprilhaul11

The Awesome Poresome Beauty Bar comes in this nice box. I bought this at the Snoe stall in Trinoma, and costs Php199 for a huge 150-gram bar. The main ingredients at work here are calamansi, witch hazel, pineapple, and cucumber, all working towards deep cleansing the face especially the pores.

Aprilhaul12

It comes in a form of a green bar, with the Snoe snowflake stamped upon the face. Let me repeat that this is a gigantic 150-g bar. It felt blasphemous to use up the bar as is, so what I do is to cut it into 1-cm-thick bars. It will end up like this:

snoebar1

This is a bit more manageable, and the product is not wasted through melting. I’ve been using my first mini-bar twice a day, 5-6 days per week, for a month and I have yet to use it up. This is such a great investment, and I expect to have about ten months worth of use out of this purchase.

How about the performance? As I mentioned above, I don’t expect this to reduce my pores significantly. However as a facial cleanser it works quite well, and leaves an almost squeaky clean feel after use. It lathers up nicely with just a bit of water, and it feels cooling on the face. My pores feel refreshed and cleaned of any residual makeup. As a bonus, it has a clean calamansi scent that only adds to the feeling of freshness.

Pros: Economical; Affordable; Availability; Effective as advertised

Cons: none really!

Today I want to share with you my review of my first ever Snoe (pronounced “snowy”) lippie. It’s in one of the newest shades, Mauve Movement. This is also my first non-pink lipstick. When you purchase the lipstick it comes in this cardboard box with the signature Snoe format and prints. This costs Php399 and is available in Snoe stalls and in their online shop.

Aprilhaul13

My shade is X19, Mauve Movement.

Aprilhaul14Aprilhaul15

One of the nice things about Snoe lipsticks is the bullet. It comes in a nice baby pink plastic tube with the Snoe logo, with gold leaf embossing on the lid. Very classy!

Aprilhaul16

Pardon the blurry photo. This is the product itself, when exposed from the tube. You can already see the nice rich mauve color. How does it perform when applied?

snoemauve02

Here is the swatch on my arm. This is just one swipe, and you can see that the color is already pretty rich and vibrant. It’s certainly buildable, and you can achieve an even deeper color with more layers.

snoemauve01

And here is the swatch on my lips. The above photo is my lips with only a transparent lipbalm (Celeteque) and the bottom shows Mauve Movement on top of the lipbalm. It comes off as a nice bright pinkish purple on my dark lips, which I like very much. It is also very moisturizing as well, and has an acceptable lasting power (about 4 hours without eating).

Pros: Classy looking bullet; Very accessible; Affordable price; Moisturizing

Cons: Nothing really, I like this very much!

As I bought a lot for the month of April, I decided to just do a huge post to show you my haul. First up is my haul from Sample Room.

Aprilhaul01

I got the Zen Nutrients All is Well Oil (40 points) and the SoTrue Lavender Skin Repair Balm (10 points) from their Earth Day set.

Aprilhaul03

The All is Well oil is very similar to White Flower. It soothes headaches, coughs, and dizziness through inhaling the soothing scent of eucalyptus, lemongrass, and peppermint. I’ve tried this out and it does the job for coughs. I’ll try this for headaches and dizziness once I get those. This is actually a full-sized product, which costs Php125.

Aprilhaul02

The Lavender Skin Repair Balm is basically what its name suggests. It’s a moisturizer for lips, elbows, knees, and heels, supposedly, but I’m mostly using it to soothe itchiness and lighten dry patches. I love that it comes in a tube as it’s easy to carry in my purse. I’m not sure about the full sized product though, I think it comes in a tub. The full product costs Php350.

The next products come from my favorite drugstore, Watsons.

Aprilhaul04

I am starting to love wet wipes, and I decided to try out the Watsons brand of anti-bacterial cleansing wipes. This is a 3-pack of 10 wipes each, for about Php99 I think.

Aprilhaul05

I’m now a fan of Nouveau hair items, from my last Watsons haul. I purchased a set of scruchies this time, 4 pairs for Php99.

Aprilhaul06Aprilhaul07

I’ve been wanting to get this Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. There’s been lots of positive reviews and I am keen on trying this for myself. It’s only Php399 which is not bad for a primer. I scored the last one from the store!

Aprilhaul08 Aprilhaul10 Aprilhaul09

Next is BYS Brow and Eye Pencil in Brown. I’ve seen reviews of this as well and I wanted a better brow pencil than the one I currently have. I had a choice of either this automatic pencil (Php350) versus the non-automatic one (Php250) which came with a brush. I decided that since I will be bringing this for travel, I didn’t want the hassle of bringing a sharpener as well.

My next haul is from Snoe, Landmark Trinoma branch. I’ve been wanting to try a lot of products from Snoe (due again to positive reviews online) but I kept myself to two products for now.

Aprilhaul11 Aprilhaul12

First is the new Awesome Poresome Beauty Bar, which is a facial cleanser that has calamansi, witch hazel, pineapple, and cucumber, all products that aim to reduce the pores. The SA mentioned that this is an upgrade of Snoe’s Calamansi bar. This is a huge bar, 140g, and costs Php199. I’m sure it will take me a long time to finish this. The scent is soothing too!

Aprilhaul13 Aprilhaul14 Aprilhaul15 Aprilhaul16

This is Snoe Rouge Deluxe in X19 Mauve Movement. This is also one of their newest shades. I actually have a long list of shades I want to try, but I decided to go for the one outside my comfort zone. This has a slightly purple tint to it, which is definitely something I haven’t used before. I love how pretty the tube is, quite unique among my (meager) collection of lippies. This costs Php399.

Lastly, I went on a splurge of Dazzle Dry lacquers as they are currently on a month-long Mother’s Day sale. The original cost of a bottle of lacquer is Php450, but it’s down to Php399! I thought that since I am so in love with the DD samples that I won, I might as well use this opportunity to get a good spread of colors. I’ll have a separate unboxing post, but let me show you a sneak peek:

Ddbox5

I got four! Woo! I can’t wait to try these out. For your reference the shade names are: Sahara, Lavender Parade, Polar Jade, and White Lightning. Some of the shades are already sold out, so go right ahead to their online store and get your own before it runs out!
