Becoming Sleek

Last weekend I met with Tellie and Kira for a wonderful lunch at Vikings Megamall. It didn’t really start on the best of feet, having had a miscommunication before we even met, but once it started I had a total blast!

My beautiful lunchmates!

Here is what I wore on my face for that day. I wanted to give the Silk Naturals Mineral Eye Colors another shot, now that I have a new eyeshadow base (Artdeco). Here I only used two, Charmed and Thistle.

Sporting my summer cut

It turns out that Charmed really does go pretty sheer once blended. It still shows a little bit green here, but it’s a lot less sparkly than what the swatch shows.

The green is still there, I swear!

Here’s a sample of shenanigans I fall into when taking selfies.

Last weekend I was invited by Aries of Erzullie for my first ever photo shoot. Here is what I did to my face for that shoot.

fotd-erzshoot2

I wanted to look fresh and simple. I stayed with only a bare hint of color on the lips. I kept the eyes neutral. I really wish I could have gotten my brows cleaned somehow, but it’ll have to do.

fotd-erzshoot1

I got to try my new stuff out! I recently bought a bunch of Ellana products, and also a bit of Pixi cosmetics and my new eye primer from Artdeco!

PS: I also got a haircut! It’s not that evident in the photos as my hair blended into my car seat, haha!

Today I was feeling the pink, so I decided to unearth my pink eyeshadows and lipstick to feature this color.

feelingpink1

Here I used the bottom middle of my L.A. Colors eyeshadow palette as the lid wash, and the #2 shade from my Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Purple Pop for the outer corner and crease.

feelingpink4

For contrast I used the #4 from Purple Pop as eyeliner. I used Benefit They’re Real Mascara for my lashes.

feelingpink2

To top it all off I used Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Lollipop for my lips.

In one of my past Sampleroom purchases, I got the other variant of Colour Collection’s BB Cream. I reviewed the first one, Whitening, here. With great regret I did not purchase the Colour Collection exclusive elite box from BDJ, so I wasn’t able to try the second variant, Age Defying. Good thing that Sampleroom offered it (and still does!), for only 130 points, so I immediately grabbed one. This usually goes for Php699 for a 40-ml tube.

bbage6

The packaging is very similar to the Whitening variant, except this one is a weird chocolate brown color. The size and layout is the same. It has the list of ingredients at the back.

bbage7

The important thing to note is that the focus of this variant is more towards skin care (as opposed to just pure whitening). It claims to have 8 skin benefits derived from having CoQ10 and green tea extract. What is this CoQ10 wizardry? It’s short for coenzyme Q10, which apparently has something to do with wrinkles (well, it’s Age Defying!). Q10 supposedly reduces UV damage, stimulates collagen production, and repairs damaged skin [source]. Green tea extract on the other hand is a powerful anti-oxidant and has key anti-aging properties as well [source]. Suffice to say, this BB cream is choc-full of anti-aging stuff!

This is very hygenic too, as the tube comes with a spout. No contamination of the product because of this!

bbage8

As far as I know this only comes in one shade. Here is how it looks like swatched on my arm. It’s pretty close to my skin tone, and that makes me pretty happy!

bbage9

Here is how it looks like on my face. I applied a very generous amount all over the face, no primer underneath. I only applied Celeteque Tri Benefit Power Cream beforehand.

bbage1

With Colour Collection Age Defying BB Cream

I’ve been wearing this a lot especially on days where I am in such a hurry. It’s not very difficult to apply, and I usually just use my fingers to spread it all over the face. While I couldn’t really comment on the actual anti-aging factor, I love how this feels on my face. It’s very light and looks quite natural. The coverage is fair – it doesn’t cover really big pimples but it’s adequate for small ones or light blemishes. It definitely reduce the redness on my cheeks, and evens out my skin tone. Oh and it has SPF45 too! I really wish this would be more widely available in malls, instead of having to go through an agent.

Here’s the finished face, with makeup. I used the following products: BYS Brow & Eye Pencil for brows; Saizen Eye Shadow in Brown for eyeshadow and eyeliner; Nichido Final Powder in So Natural for finishing powder; Ever Bilena Shade Lipstick in Flaring Cranberry

bbage3

I really go around with eyeglasses on, so here’s how my skin looks with them on.

bbage4

And here’s my dorky smile, which is kind of a mix between Jennifer Lawrence and Mr. Bean.

bbage5

Pros: reasonably priced; shade matches my skin tone; longwearing; sensitive skin friendly; has many anti-aging factors; has SPF45

Cons: available through dealers only

I have no information on Colour Collection’s animal testing policies. You can get full sized samples from Sampleroom here.

Last month I swatched the three mineral eyeshadows  I received from Kira, and Tellie challenged me to come up with an eye makeup look that featured all three. After a whole month of diddling about, I finally found the opportunity to play around with the eyeshadows. Before I present the results, here again are the three shades and the swatches.

holidayhaul06 silknaturalsswatch1

What I did was to use Charmed as lidwash on the inner 2/3 of the eye, and put Thistle on the outer 1/3 and blended it into the crease. Sonic was used as a highlight in the tearduct and browbone. I used the foiling technique (aka damp brush). The brushes I used were all from Artist Studio. Here’s how it turned out.

greenpurple1

And here’s a close up.

greenpurple2

It’s a little weird how it ended up. The green eyeshadow is now almost completely invisible and turns up only as hints on the crease (the green you see near the upper lashline is a green eyeliner). It did spread out its glitter all over the lid though. The purple also isn’t as deep as the swatch suggested. I used my trusty Essence eyeshadow base underneath all this. Here’s another shot, although rather blurred.

My husband and I rarely celebrate Valentines Day on the actual day itself, mostly because eating out, parking, and traffic are all such a hassle. We just celebrate on some other day, and this year we took our daughter along for a Valentines family day.

On the actual Valentines Day itself, I had to go to work. I didn’t want to let the day pass without somehow looking a bit dolled up! I amped up my “office” look a bit by going for a somewhat smokey eye look. My go-to eye palette was again the Saizen Eye Shadow in Brown.

saizencosmetics09

I used #3 as the overall lid color, and #4 on the crease and outer corner. Underneath all of that I used the Crystal Cream Eyecolor to put a bit of sparkle.

Eyeshadow experts, I need your feedback! What can I do to improve my eyeshadow application?

Last week I hauled some nice Saizen cosmetics, and I couldn’t wait to try them out. I got the chance to try out the Eye Shadow Brown palette and I wanted to show it to you. Let me first refresh you on how the palette looks like.

saizencosmetics09

I have arbitrarily decided to call the individual shades by numbers 1 to 6 from left to right. In this muted neutral look I used shades 2, 3, 5, and 6. Here is how it looks like.

mutedneutrals4

After applying eye primer, I applied #6 as a lid wash to make the colors pop out more. I then applied #2 in the inner 2/3 of the lid and #3 on the outer 1/3 and blended it well. I used an angled liner brush to apply #5 as an eyeliner. Here is the whole look:

Makeup is such a versatile tool and can really change a girl’s look if done correctly. I was able to use this to good effect when I needed a severe office look to help me face one of my toughest challenges as a manager. I wanted a “mega taray” look because I wanted to project a certain image.

taray1

Red lipstick is the centerpiece, a shade I don’t normally wear to the office and something I would usually associate with the word “taray”. I supported it with a light blush, dark brows, and some pinkish-red eyeshadows.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this look!

I usually only have 20-30 minutes to prepare in the morning, since I have a 2-hour travel time to go to the office. This is what I would usually wear on my face on a typical office day.

What’s your basic office look?

For this FOTD, I am featuring the LA Colors eyeshadow palette I received from Peachy Pink Sisters. I have been using this palette a lot in my everyday office makeup, but usually only the top row for a more neutral look. Today I would like to try using the bottom row for a bolder day look.

Here are the products I used. Nichido Makeup Palette for the blush, LA Colors palette, Avon Shine Attract in Happy Pink, Pantene Miracle Water, Ever Bilena Eye Pencil in brown, Fashion 21 Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown, Maybelline Great Lash in Dark Brown, Venus and Mars Smooch Lip Detox, Myra VitaGlow Tinted Moisturizer

Here’s the completed look. It’s still a little conservative (in my opinion), but I like the flash of color in my eyes.

A closer look of my eyes. Pardon the sweat drops on my forehead (ang init!).
