FOTD: Valentines Day

My husband and I rarely celebrate Valentines Day on the actual day itself, mostly because eating out, parking, and traffic are all such a hassle. We just celebrate on some other day, and this year we took our daughter along for a Valentines family day.
On the actual Valentines Day itself, I had to go to work. I didn’t want to let the day pass without somehow looking a bit dolled up! I amped up my “office” look a bit by going for a somewhat smokey eye look. My go-to eye palette was again the Saizen Eye Shadow in Brown.
I used #3 as the overall lid color, and #4 on the crease and outer corner. Underneath all of that I used the Crystal Cream Eyecolor to put a bit of sparkle.
Here’s a better view of the eye look without the glasses.
Products used:

One of the mainstay items in my makeup routine is In2It Waterproof Eyebrow Colour palette in ER01 Eyebrowns. I bought this all the way last August, from SM Megamall I think, for Php299. It is currently my go-to eyebrow powder.
Let’s talk about the palette. It comes in a small handy plastic palette with the brand printed on the cover in gold, along with some interesting flower design. Its top half is transparent and lets you see the actual product inside. This is a pretty sturdy palette and doesn’t seem cheap. It is a little hard to open, which means it’s pretty safe to tote along on a trip.
At the bottom you will find ingredient information, directions for use, and the dates of manufacture and expiry.
Upon opening the palette you will see the three shades side by side in a metal pan, and a tiny brush in its own compartment. The brush is actually pretty useful, and I use it as backup when I wash my primary eyebrow brush (Artist Studio). It does pick up a lot more product though, so I have to be careful otherwise I’ll be sporting a pretty dark brow when that happens. The inside of the cover sports a tiny mirror.
The eyebrow powder comes in three shades, and I use the darker two mostly. The darkest shade is the one I use to fill in the gaps in my brow, while the middle shade goes to outline and shape my brow properly. Here is the swatch of all three shades on my arm.
And here is the product applied on my brows.
In2It is available in major department stores. I have no information on their animal testing policies.
Pros: versatile eyebrow powder, comes in three shades; affordable; great looking compact case; portable; has mirror and brush; availability
Cons: none really

Let me show you what I got this August. Some of these you’ve already encountered in the blog, but I wanted to collect them all in one post. I’ll begin with the ones closest to my heart: nail polish!
1. Essence Nail Polish in Iced Strawberry Cream, Time for Romance, and Gold Fever
I love Essence, and I decided to try out their nail polish line. It was really pretty cheap at Php99 a bottle (even if the bottles are smaller than the other brands’). It was very difficult to keep down my purchases because all the shades were seriously beautiful! I had to content myself with two glitter toppers, the ones I thought looked the best in bottle. The last one, Iced Strawberry Cream, is going to be part of my next giveaway. [Click the thumbnails for the bigger versions!]
2. Rescue Beauty Lounge Liberty
OMG. I can’t believe it myself. I made a super major splurge with this, and it’s a little bit of an impulse buy too. But when Digital Traincase announced in their instagram account that they have extra bottles, I couldn’t stop myself and ordered this much vaunted shade from RBL’s Blogger 2.0 collection. It’s pretty limited edition which is why I took the plunge. This costs a whopping Php1250, and is my most expensive polish purchase to date. This is my birthday gift to myself. (excuses, excuses!) [Click the thumbnails for the bigger versions!]
3. Models Own Nail Polish in Jade Stone and Models Own Nail Art Pen in Black
These (and #4 below) are again an impulse buy, sadly. Glamourbox held a 2-day only sale for a whopping 25% off on all products last Aug 15-16. I had been wanting to try out the nail polish brands that they carry, so this was the perfect time to do so. I could only afford three, so I chose a green polish (of course!) and a nail art pen from Models Own (unboxed here). I can’t wait to try these out! The nail polish normally costs Php365 and the nail art pen costs Php440 at the Glamourbox Boutique, but I got mine for only Php274 and Php330 respectively! [Click the thumbnails for the bigger versions!]
4. Misa Wanderlust in Frozen in Time
The third product I ordered from the Glamourbox sale is Frozen In Time from the Misa Wanderlust collection (unboxed here). I checked swatches online and this was the one I liked best. I also actually liked the Taking Chances shade but couldn’t afford it anymore, so I had to content myself with this. Each Misa Wanderlust bottle normally costs Php345 at the Glamourbox Boutique, but I got mine for only Php249. [Click the thumbnails for the bigger versions!]
5. Girlstuff Nail Polish in Joanne and Blues
I found myself again at the Girlstuff Kiosk Megamall and I couldn’t resist getting a couple of colors. This golden orange Joanne (Php140) is really bright and sparkly, while the Blues shade (Php100) is a great deep blue. I am planning to give one of these away as well, so watch out for it! [Click the thumbnails for the bigger versions!]
The next four items are bought from Landmark, Trinoma.
6. OMG Crystal Sand in Peridot, Opal, and Quartz
I had a pahabol haul from Landmark, and I couldn’t resist getting some of the OMG polishes. They are just so cheap at Php20 per bottle! My eyes were drawn to a row of beautiful looking Crystal Sand polishes, and these three were my top picks. They look so pretty in the bottle, and I’m hoping that it’ll be just as pretty on the nail. I particularly like Quartz. These are Php20 each.
7. OMG Matte Potion
Yes I already have a bottle of this, but I purchased a few more to add to my upcoming giveaway. Check out this Matte Potion in action here, here, and here.
8. BK Nail Art Dotting Tool
I bought another dotting tool from BK Nail Art. My last one had similar sized heads, and I was looking for a tip with a smaller head. Luckily Landmark had a stock of a different dual-ended dotting tool so I grabbed this one. This costs Php60.
9. Kand Stamping Nail Art Set
I had been considering getting this stamping set for my first attempt at stamping nail art. This seemed like the best plate so I grabbed this one. Watch out for my first attempt soon on the blog! This costs Php80.
After this are the non-nail polish purchases I made this month. The first three are from SM-Watsons (department store) at Megamall.
10. In2It Waterproof Eyebrow Colour in ER 01 Eyebrowns
I have read many good reviews from local bloggers of this amazing product. I had so far only been using my BYS eyebrow pencil or some of my dark eyeshadows on my eyebrows. Sometimes I think these make my brows look too strong, so I decided to try this In2It eyebrow kit. It comes in three colors that you can mix and match, and it also comes with its own angled brush and mirror. The most amazing part of this product is that it only costs Php299! [Click the thumbnails for the bigger versions!]
11. Glamworks Chin and Forehead Strips
I saw this in The Beauty Junkee and I was sold! I had been having problems with my chin area (there seemed to be weird spots there) and I thought that this is perfect to target the problem. The fact that it’s only Php99 sealed the deal. I can use it on my forehead too! Sulit!
12. Watsons 3-Pack Cotton Squares
I’ve finally ran out of the cotton rounds I bought from last March, so I got myself this humongous 3-pack of cotton squares. I find that I’m using up a lot of these because not only do I use it for the face but I also use them for my nails!
13. Diorshow Extase Mascara in Black
I got this unexpected gift from my mother-in-law. It’s probably a GWP (gift with purchase) since this is sample sized and quite small. The performance is awesome though! It gave me the longest lashes yet of all the mascaras I’ve tried.
14. Colour Collection Vitamin E Lipstick in Red Wine
This and #11 below are my latest Sampleroom haul. As with the Kissmark matte shade, this costed me 85 points. This Red Wine shade is satin (as opposed to matte or sheer) and is a delicious deep red. I am starting to learn how to wear darker reds, so I decided to get this too when the restocks came in.
15. Zenutrients Baby Love Calendula and Milk Soap
Along with the CC lipstick above, I also got this newly released sample. I enjoyed my last sample from Zenutrients (All is Well Oil) and I wanted to try another product from them. I loved the calendula factor from my Nivea Baby Smoothy moisturizer and I love milk soaps, so this should be a pretty awesome combination. I’m loving the scent so far! This costed me 30 points in Sampleroom.
16. Clinique All in One Colour Palette
Another OMG! This certainly is one awesome awesome month for me! This is my mother-in-law’s birthday gift, and my jaw just dropped. My first ever Clinique item and it’s a complete palette! It looks so chic and pristine! This palette has a small mascara tube, five lipstick shades, a neutral eyeshadow quad, a blush, and a face powder. It even comes with a lip brush, a dual-ended eyeshadow brush, a tiny blush brush, and a sponge. This is all the makeup I would need for travel! [Click the thumbnails for the bigger versions!]
17. Tiny Nail Polishes and Lip Makeup
Just how adorable are these?! The sweet Tellie of Beauty by Tellie gifted me these items which she got from her trip abroad. These are really small nail polish bottles and there is a gloss-and-lipstick sample as well. They are too cute to use, honestly! Thanks again Tellie!
There you have it! If you want me to work on a review on any of these products, just say so in the comments!

Here are my favorites for the month of August.
1. [Eyes] In2It Eyebrow Kit
I’ve been using this for my brows ever since I bought it. The fact that it’s waterproof is the main reason I prefer this over using just plain eyeshadow on my brows (which I sometimes do, in place of the BYS eyebrow pencil). It also comes with a dark brown which makes my brows softer looking compared to using the black shadow from one of my Ellefar palettes. It’s also not very expensive at Php299! I will put up a review of this soon.
2. [Face] Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Peach
I have found my favorite blush! I love how glowy it makes my cheeks look without going over the top. The shade Peach is such a great everyday color and matches almost any look I can come up with. I will write a review of this soon.
3. [Lips] Avon Ultra Color Lipstick in Hibiscus
A double entry for Avon! This is my go-to lipstick this month. I just love the pop of bright pink, which remains formal enough to wear to the office. It’s also very hydrating, and as a bonus it smells really nice as well! Thank you to Glamourbox for including this in the awesome Avon box.
4. [Skincare] Celeteque Acne Solutions Line
This month is probably the worst for me in terms of acne. I’m not sure if it’s the stress or my skin has just given up on me, but I’ve been getting the worst acne I’ve had in years. Thankfully there is Celeteque’s Acne Solutions Line which has been my savior. It’s gentle and yet very effective. This will always remain on my dresser for those bad breakouts.
5. [Nails] Rescue Beauty Lounge in Liberty
My possibly biggest splurge of the year, the RBL Liberty is such a sunny beautiful shade of green. I regret that summer had to pass before I am able to acquire this, as this would have been my summer staple. Rain or storm won’t stop me from using this over and over!
